Walter returned home to the relentless cries of his infant son, Logan. His wife, Abby, was at her wit’s end—she had tried feeding, burping, and bathing him, but nothing calmed the baby. When Walter checked the crib, he discovered something horrifying: a dictaphone playing baby cries and a ransom note demanding $200,000 if they ever wanted to see Logan again.
He recalled a heated argument weeks earlier with a janitor at the maternity hospital and suspected him of the kidnapping. Walter considered going to the police, but a threatening message warned him not to. Hoping to outsmart the kidnapper, he placed fake money at the drop-off location.
Following the janitor led to a dead end; he claimed he was merely paid to deliver the package and knew nothing about the baby. Returning home, Walter discovered Abby had vanished along with all her belongings. It quickly dawned on him: Abby had staged the kidnapping herself.
Determined to expose her, Walter enlisted a sympathetic doctor to trick Abby into thinking Logan needed urgent medical care. When she arrived at the hospital with the baby, Walter was waiting with the police. Abby and her accomplice—Walter’s own brother, James—were arrested. Before being taken away, Abby shouted one last cruel revelation: “Logan isn’t even your son. You couldn’t get me pregnant!”
Walter was stunned, but holding Logan close, he declared, “I’ll adopt him if I have to. I’m his father, and I’ll raise him with love. Alone.”
