Two young Ohio children are facing attempted murder, rape and other charges for an unthinkable assault on a 5-year-old girl who was left bloodied, “scalped,” and “unrecognizable,” according to authorities and her horrified mother.
The suspects, a 9-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl, were hit with a laundry list of charges following the Sept. 13 shocking attack on the little girl, the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office announced Wednesday.
The prosecutor’s office and the Cleveland Division of Police both declined to share additional information or provide comments “due to the sensitive nature of this case.”
The victim’s mother told local outlets that she dropped her daughter off at a family member’s house for a few hours on Sept. 13. Somehow, the young girl left the property on her own and was missing.
Later that day, she was found unresponsive, beaten and bloodied in a field.
Her mom — who The Post is not naming to protect the victim’s identity — was called and arrived to find her broken child being loaded into an ambulance.
“What I saw was unbelievable. My daughter was not my daughter. Her hair was scalped from her head. She had bruises and blood all over her body. Her eyes were filled with blood. Her lips and mouth were filled with blood. Her nails had debris and dirt stuck in it,” the horrified mother told WOIO through tears.
Gruesome photos the victim’s mother shared with the outlet showed the girl missing a large chunk of her braided hair near the front of her head.
The little girl was in the hospital for about a week and woke up traumatized and is still struggling a month later, her mom told News 5 Cleveland.
“She was screaming when she woke up, she said, ‘They killed me.’ She thought she was dead,” she told the local news station. “To hear your baby say that she died— what? A 5-year-old shouldn’t even know that word.”
The mother is pleading for justice — and praying for a miracle as her daughter makes an arduous recovery.
“I want her to just be somewhat of a normal 5-year-old again,” she told the WOIO.
The suspects were charged with four counts of rape, two counts of felonious kidnapping, one count of attempted murder, one count of kidnapping, and one count of strangulation, according to the prosecutor’s office. The pair was charged as juveniles.
